Athens highlights sightseeing tour
Your tour begins in Piraeus where you will board our air-conditioned luxury coach. Once seated your driver and guide will introduce themselves to you and your bus will head for the center of Athens which will take approximately 30 minutes.
You will pass the three beautiful ports of Piraeus and enjoy the scenic view to the Saronic Gulf. You will enter the city center from the southwest along Syngrou Avenue. Along the way your guide will point out the major Athens sites of interest which will include the Temple of Zeus, the Panathenaic Stadium, home of the first Olympic Games where you will make a short photo stop, Hadrian’s Arch which was the ancient border between the Greek and Roman city of Athens, the Parliament and Presidential Guards in their striking costumes, the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Numismatic Museum, the former House of Schliemann, beautiful neoclassical buildings from the 19th century such as the National Library, the Academy of Sciences, the University of Athens, the Historical Museum, Syntagma Square and the Russian Church.

An essential visit to the Acropolis
The tour culminates with the crown jewels of the Greek civilization, the Acropolis which is considered the epitome of architectural design, sculpture, art, beauty and measure by most of the world. We will enter the Acropolis from the south slope so as to avoid the crowds and also to visit the Dionysus Sanctuary and Dionysus Theatre built in the 5th century BC. As we begin to ascend the sacred hill a breathtaking view of the city below will unfold beneath us. While walking at a comfortable pace your guide will provide you with a detailed explanation of the glorious monuments of the Acropolis such as the Parthenon, dedicated to the goddess Athena and the most important building surviving of classical Greece, the Erectheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple as well as surrounding landmarks and monuments of equal importance and splendour such as the Philopappos , Mars and Pnyx Hill, the Ancient Observatory, the Odeon of Herodes Atticus and the Ancient Agora.

The New Acropolis Museum- A gloriously “right” structure
The New Acropolis Museum was designed by Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi in co-operation with the Greek architect Michalis Photiadis. Its unique design has incorporated the excavations which are visible under stunning glass floors.
The Acropolis masterpieces are marked out and given the prominence they deserve through the ideal interior atmosphere conditions, the natural lighting, as well as easy visitor access, panoramic views and excellent layout of the exhibition areas. It exhibits about 4,000 artifacts.
