FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

- Reservations: For all our tours, you have to book at least one day before. We don't require any pre-payment unless it is a private or custom made tour for which you will have to prepay. Please, make your reservations via e-mail at: info@athenswalkingtours.gr or by phone at: 0030 210 8847269 or 0030 6945 859662.

- Fees: All tours cost € 34 for adults and € 22 for students and children under 18. Children under 12 are not charged.

- Meeting point: The meeting point is inside the Syntagma Metro Station one level below, next to the ticket validating machines. Our guides are holding the ‘Walking Tour’ sign which will help you recognize them.

- Our tours do not take place on the public Holidays: 25 & 26 December, New Year’s Day, Good Friday closed until 12:00a.m., Easter Day, May 1st and March 25 the Greek Independence Day.

- Custom-made programs available: We can work out your individual program or ask us for our suggestions. We can also organize a private tour or a custom made program for your family or party of friends as well as for schools, universities, companies, incentives, embassies, etc. We can also combine two tours so you can see as much as possible by one tour.

- Time and distance: All our tours last three hours. We do the walking, which is not more than one and a half mile, at a moderate pace and we stop very often at various spots so that explanations can be given about the interesting monuments, sites or spots.

- Weather: Our tours take place in all weather, rain or shine.

- Guides: All our walking tours are conducted by professional guides who are highly qualified and licensed. Our guides are graduates of the Greek State College for guides. They have all completed their three (3) year studies on sixteen (16) different subjects (history, art, geography etc.). Their profound and high educational level lists them amongst the best guides in Europe. They are friendly, knowledgeable and experienced and will help to give you a fascinating overview of the different aspects of the Greek life and history in a remarkably short period of time.

- How am I going to recognise my guide? Our guides are holding an ‘Athens Walking Tour’ sign. Look out for it.

- How am I going to pay? Prepayment is not required. You pay to our office representative at the beginning of the tour in the local currency which is Euro (€). Full prepayment is required though for the private custom made tours. Credit cards are not accepted, we take only cash.

- Children: We love children and welcome them to join our tours; they can easily follow our programs.

- Smoking: Most of our tours are outdoors, so smokers can smoke as long as they stay at a distance and do not bother non-smokers. Smoking is not allowed inside museums or archaeological sites in Greece.

- Tips: Our guides will appreciate it if you tip them but don’t ask for it or demand it.

- Restrooms (Toilets): There are restrooms at Athens museums and archaeological sites as well as in most places we will be walking by, at Syntagma Square, National Gardens, Panathenaic Stadium, Acropolis, Dionysos sanctuary etc.
