No 04. Ancient Agora - Plaka and Monastiraki monuments
This tour is tailor-made for visitors who stay in the city for a couple of days. The tour starts with a short visit to the archaeological exhibits of the Syntagma metro station. Then you walk down to Mitropoleos Square where you visit the Cathedral of Athens. In a few minutes walk you reach the Monastiraki area where you see Roman and Ottoman monuments of Athens such as the Roman Market, the Tower of the Winds, the Fethiye Mosque, the Medrese, Hadrian’s Library and Tzistarakis Mosque.
Then walking through the colourful Flea Market you come to the Ancient Greek Agora.
You visit the Agora and the Attalos Stoa which houses the Agora’s museum.
Afterwards, you stroll through Avyssinias Square and you come to Athinas Road where you find yourself swept away into an exciting colourful oriental world-the meat, fish, fruit, vegetable and spices market.
The tour lasts 3 hours and the walking itself is 60 minutes. The meeting point is inside the Syntagma metro station next to the ticket validating machines.
