The Acropolis
Entering on the south slope of the Acropolis, you’ll visit the Dionysus Sanctuary and Dionysus Theater before you walk up the slope leading to the Acropolis monuments. Panoramic views of the city will be perfect for Instagram-ready photos.
During your tour, you’ll gain insight into the significance of the historic monuments of Acropolis including the Parthenon, the Erechtheion, the Propylaia, the Nike Temple as well as other significant sights of Athens including the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Ancient Agora, the National Observatory of Athens and the city’s scenic hills: Filoppapos, Mars, and Pnyx.
Note: After the first part of the tour, between the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum Tour, there's an approximate 15-20 min break during which you may get a snack or a drink but there is no time for leasury meal. Kindly note that on the afternoon slots we first visit the Museum and then the Acropolis to avoid the heat and the crowds on the Acropolis.
Top Museum of the World: Acropolis Museum
Designed by renowned Swiss architect Bernard Tschumi and notable Greek architect Michalis Photiadis, the Acropolis Museum captivates guests on approach. Its seamless modern lines elegantly incorporate artifacts exclusively from the Acropolis, and excavations are also visible under glass floors and walkways. The marbled surviving treasures are impressively displayed with the use of natural light, situated on a modernist open layout. Panoramic views top the experience.
Enjoying Greek food is about the smells, the tastes and the flavors. In a central neighborhood, frequented by locals for its markets and restaurants, discover the diversity and the deliciousness of Greek food in a matter of hours.
The Most Delicious Food Tour of Athens
Get ready to bite into a sweet, cream-filled, crunchy filo layered pie called bougatsa, fork into perfectly fried doughnut balls drenched in honey called loukoumades, and savor a satisfying meld of flavors from warm pita bread filled with seasoned grilled meat, fresh veggies and a traditional sauce called gyros. This neighborhood walk revolves around sampling Greece’s traditional food.
Experience the Tastes of Greece
You’ll also walk the city’s quaint spice street and sample what’s behind the glass counters at family-run delicatessens. The aromas of fresh, out-of-the-oven savory pies, the tempting displays of Greek pastries and sips of Greece’s strong and tasteful spirits round out the food tour.
