Carnival In Athens

During the carnival period there are for sure many interesting things to do! The Greek Carnival is a vivid festive period.  Parties at houses, carnival parades, concerts in the streets!

Carnival stroll in the historic city center (Plaka) with songs by the Choir of the Zakynthinians Union   in AthensThey will transfer the island Zakyntos atmosphere into Athens . Thursday, March 10

20.00 Keramikos Square, Gazi

Saturday, March 12

13.00 Negri Fokionos pedestrian walk way

Athens Big Band goes latin: Carnival concert of Big Band of Athens. Musical direction: Manos Theodosakis

18.00 Klafthmonos Square

Carnival Parade of Koudounarei group from Distomo area . Young people from Distomo, Viotia wear sheepskins and heavy bells, holding sticks and olive branches and herald the coming of spring singing and satirizing current events. Route: Klafthmonos Square, Syntagma Square, Ermou st., Kapnikareas st., Pandrosou st., Monastiraki Square, Aeolou st., Agias Irinis Square, Kotzia Square

Sunday, March 13

12.00 Pandrosou pedestrian walk way

Concert with rembetika, folk and traditional songs with “Rempetien” Orchestra.

Ash Monday (Clean Monday), March 14

11.30 Filopappou Hill

Traditional Koulouma (celebration of Ash Monday) with Lenten dishes ( no meat or dairy products are consumed  or offered on this day )

Celebrate with known and good Greek singers such as   Glykeria, Vassilis Saleas and  the eight-member orchestra.
