The Operations Director and the driving force behind the Athens Walking Tours and a guide herself for over 30 years. Despina hand picks all of our guides one by one and still answers most emails personally because she chooses to maintain personal contact with her clients. She has a passion and enthusiasm about guiding as if every tour is the first time she guides.
Yiannis Yiannakakis
Yiannis is the Managing Director of the Athens Walking Tours as well as Despina’s husband. His strategic thinking and strong vision for the AWT is the perfect combination to Despina’s fiery creative passion. Together they make it work.
Anthoula Gioldasi
Our Marketing Coordinator. Anything and everything that is significant to the success of our tours goes through her. She is a delightful and very intelligent young mom who is absolutely crazy about her 4 yr. old daughter Katia.
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and humourous to ensure the group was well entertained yet imparting us with knowledge regarding the Acropolis. They make sure our safety is most important and ensured we had a good time.

We entered when the Acropolis opened but there is so few crowds even compared to later in the day. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. She turned the history into a story so we learned about and enjoyed our surroundings. Well worth it! We enjoyed an excellent "highlights tour" through Athens Walking Tours in 2014. Based on that, we booked AGT40B (Acropolis & Parthenon... Extended Edition") for our return in 2024. The early start was worth the effort because we beat the crowds and heat. Niobe, our guide, was excellent. She was informative and easy to understand and walked at a manageable pace for the group of 15 to 20 people. She even knew a shady spot where we could get off our feet.
