The Athens International Airport is located approximately 30-35 kilometers or 18 - 21 miles from the city center. If you’ve just landed, checked out your luggage, and are looking for a means of transport there, you’re in luck! There are in fact two ways to get to the city center without paying a pretty penny to a taxi.
Line 3 / the blue line of the metro, with direction to Dimotiko Theatro, connects the airport with Syntagma, the largest metro station in the city. From there, you will easily be able to reach any spot in the city center. You will find the metro station as you exit the main terminal, right behind the Sofitel Athens Airport Hotel.
The Express Bus Line X95 runs 24/7. You will find the Departures Building right outside the main terminal, and you can get off at Syntagma.
